Mi casa is proud to enlist the services of Rick Beaver, biologist and nature interpreter, on a one day excursion out of Mazatlan. Rick brings his passionate involvement with the environment to entertain you with stories of the diverse habitats and the creatures which thrive in them. Well versed in the biology of birds, fish, insects and mammals and a professional in the visual arts for 30 years he has a unique way of seeing the world and is delighted to share his vision with you. Rick has been actively involved in the conservation and interpretation of rare habitats and wildlife in Canada for most of his life and has a healthy admiration and respect for this part of the world.
The day tour will take you through the estuary and man made rocky headlands of Marina Mazatlan and out into the Sea of Cortez…itself a remarkable engine of vibrant, geological and evolutionary processes…and on by sail to Deer Island, one of three lying just off Mazatlan. Your experience can include the sandy beach lands, exposed, rocky, shores and the uplands and cliffs of the island. You will have a chance to observe many different types of birds, plants, sea invertebrates and butterflies, all offering excellent opportunities for photography with Rick’s accompanying narrative.
